Shoe Spotlight: Hoka One One Clifton 2
The Hoka One One Clifton 2 has a lot to live up to. Its predecessor is Hoka’s top-selling shoe and a favorite of road runners who love to rack up miles. Fans of the original shoe can rest easy. Hoka’s mantra with this update was “don’t fix what isn’t broken.” The updates to the 2 are subtle, but oh so divine. Hot spots are a distant memory with a softer, lightly padded tongue. New no-sew overlays hug the foot in unwavering midfoot support. Plus, the ultra-cushioned, in-your-face midsole is just as plush as ever.
With the previous version of the Clifton, some runners experienced issues with blowouts in the upper. Hoka addressed this concern with a more durable, structured upper. Unfortunately, as a result the shoe weighs in about 1.4 oz. heavier and the shoe doesn’t offer the same high level of flexibility.
Overall, the Clifton 2 is still a comfortable, cushioned option for any road runner. Want to hear more about it? Check out what Ginger Runner has to say after putting some serious mileage on the style.
